Weekend Wrap-Up and POTG Radio Tonight

After surviving all the hype of the Super Bowl, POTG Radio will return tonight at the usual time of 7:00 Central. In spite of all the hype, nothing surpassed the Pittsburgh - Washington game for excitement on Sunday. For once, the pregame Crosby-Ovechkin build-up lived up to its billing with a hat trick by Ovie to lead a huge comeback in an overtime 5-4 win for the Caps.

Tonight we will wrap up the past week in Pred land and take a look at the Predators as they invade the New York City areas for a trio of games against the Islanders, Rangers and Devils.

We will have Michelle Kenneth of Inside Hockey and Anthony Curatolo of Crash the Crease, The Hockey Guys and several other locations. We will have their insight into what the Predators may expect from the opposition as they try to right their ship prior to the Olympics.

I am also interested to hear about Ilya Kovalchuk's debut as a Devil and how that changes the make-up of a team that has struggled for goals lately.

Please join us live or on the podcast later.

In Pred Nation...

Bryan Mullen previews the Preds road trip that starts this afternoon and talks about the concern in Barry Trotz's face after Saturday's loss to San Jose.

The Twitterless John Glennon broke the Jordin Tootoo signing old school at the Tennessean web site. John also has a few thoughts from Barry Trotz on a future Pred's captain. John also has a nice piece about Blake Geoffrion who played in the outdoor game in Michigan that Wisconsin won. ESPN has a story and a video of Geoffrion's reaction to the game.

Jim Diamond has his weekly Pred's prospect report.

In honor of Black History Month Die by the Blade has the Top 10 Black Hockey players. Joel Ward is listed as #7. They also have the new "Hockey is for Everyone" video with Joel Ward and Jordin Tootoo in it.

Forechecker reports that rumors are flying that Bridgestone may be the new naming sponsor on the Pred's Arena. The original article at coolsprings.com also has news about Jon Morrell registering the domain name. That is interesting to me because he has bought my Titans season tickets the past few years.

Mark has his weekly View at 111.

Preds101 compares Jordin Tootoo and Kyle Vanden Bosch.

Around the NHL...

The most shocking news of the weekend was the untimely death of Brendan Burke. Our condolences go out to the Burke family. Brandon Felder, Sean Leahy, and Edgar Arce had thoughtful tributes to his passing.

Tonight is the finals of the Beanpot Tournament with Boston College facing Boston University in the finals. Here is a preview from Inside Hockey.

Gary Bettman lined up another "partner" for the league with Jeff Vinik buying the Lightning and appears to be taking over almost immediately. It's amazing how quick a sale can take place when Gary pushes it through.

Matt Reitz discusses the Main Stream Morons in a post at View From My Seats. The site had plenty of discussion over the weekend. He also has tips on how to deal with a Red Wings fan.

Mirtle has a profile of Newark and the House that Lou Built.

A new site has popped up that has serious potential to be entertaining. Check out Intent to Blow (as in Rule 32.2).

For space buffs, a new video has surfaced from the Challenger accident 24 years ago and has been donated to the Space Exploration Archive in Louisville. It is said to be from a different angle from the ones commonly seen over the years.
