A Look Back at Our Eastern Conference Prognostications

Last week, when we knew who the final eight were in the West, we took a look at how we did in our pre-season picks and it wasn't pretty.

I'm happy to report that we did slightly better with our Eastern picks as far as getting the top eight correct not withstanding the order. Here are my preseason picks and a link to the original post:

1. Philadelphia
2. Boston
3. Carolina
4. Pittsburgh
5. Washington
6. Montreal
7. New Jersey
8. Toronto
9. New York Rangers
10. Ottawa
11. Buffalo
12. Tampa Bay
13. Florida
14. Atlanta
15. New York Islanders

Jackson had the same six of eight record as his dad but with different teams. Here is the original post with comments.

1. Pittsburgh Penguins
2. Boston Bruins
3. Carolina Hurricanes
4. Philadelphia Flyers
5. New Jersey Devils
6. Washington Capitals
7. Montreal Canadiens
8. New York Rangers
9. Toronto Maple Leafs
10. Ottawa Senators
11. Tampa Bay Lightning
12. Florida Panthers
13. Buffalo Sabres
14. Atlanta Thrashers
15. New York Islanders

Jackson and I each got six of the eight correct hut had huge misses on Carolina wining the Southeast division and the Caps being the middle of the pack. I also drank the Brian Burke Kool-aid so that was a huge miss. We also could never have anticipated the goalie injuries in Philadelphia. Jackson couldn't be faulted for picking the Rangers as they barely missed out in the skills competition in the season finale.

So there it is. Since we fared so well in the regular season, we will have our first round picks tomorrow.
