Predators Announce First Round of Cuts - No Real Surprises

The Nashville Predators started paring down their roster of 56 with six players being sent elsewhere this afternoon. There were no surprises on the list.

Taylor Aronson has been injured and has seen no contact. Austin Watson was drafted in June and is expected to be a leader on his Peterborough team as are 2009 draftees Charles-Oliver Roussel at Montreal and Michael Latta at Guelph.

Jamie Doornbosch and Cameron Wind were both on Amateur Try-out Contracts so that is not unexpected. Non-roster invitees Scott Ford, Scott Lehman, Chris Mueller, and Mark Van Guilder remain in camp.

Here is the full release from the Predators...

With the return of Nashville Predators hockey, the Predators are gearing up for their second annual Preds Fest, a fan-appreciation celebration from Sept. 23-27 to mark the start of the hockey season in Smashville. This free party will feature music and prizes, a beer garden, appearances by mascot GNASH and the Nashville Predators Dancers and autograph opportunities with players. The Predators also invited fans to attend that evening’s game for free; due to an overwhelming response, this game is now at capacity. Tickets still remain for Saturday night’s preseason game vs. the Washington Capitals and Monday night’s contest vs. the Atlanta Thrashers.

The regular season in Smashville kicks off on Oct. 9 vs. the Anaheim Ducks. All fans in attendance will receive an Opening Night t-shirt courtesy of Bridgestone.
