RLD Radio Division Previews, "The" Schwartz Gets Shafted, Preds' Camp News, and Wednesday Round-Up

I had the privilege, once again, of co-hosting Ryan Porth's RLD Radio yesterday with guests E.J. Hradek and Adrian Dater.

E.J. provided a great preview of the Atlantic Division with plenty of insight into what he expects this season. Adrian gave his thoughts on the Northwest Division with extra insight into the Colorado Avalanche.

The player to listen to the show follows. Make sure and stay with it to the end as Adrian Dater provides plenty of humor once the inevitable topic of women's Roller Derby sneaks in to the discussion at the end of the show.

Special Note About The Score's Drafted 2...

Last night in Canada, on this week's edition of The Score's Drafted 2 show, our friend Launy "The" Schwartz knocked them dead in the teleprompter challenge. At the end of the show (no video yet), Launy was accused of "leaking" information about his selection to the top ten and was disqualified.

The alleged leak was said to have occurred during the NHL Awards Show week in Las Vegas. I was with Launy and his lovely wife Dahlia, for much of the time in Vegas. We were all excited about Launy's chances in the competition, but at no time, did I ever know that Launy was a finalist and I feel sure that there was no breach on Launy's part.

Launy was crushed with the disqualification and issued this statement. I will have more on this at a later time.

In Pred Nation...

Tuesday was the final day of full scrimmages at Centennial Sportsplex for the Predators. Here are the video highlights from Predators.com of Blue's 6-5 win over white. Here is a video of Barry Trotz's post game scrum and a piece with Ryan Flynn who has been impressive in his two scrimmages. Jay Levin also blogged the scrimmage.

The Nashville Predators and FS Tennessee jointly announced that 60 Preds games will be televised this year, all in HD. Thirty-six of the 41 road games along with 24 home games will be on the tube this season. I know that the HD is a real break through for those who's cable and satellite provider passes them off that way but unfortunately, we do not have that privilege.

Josh Cooper at the Tennessean is adding another feature to his coverage with a live chat today at 11:00 a.m. During the day yesterday he had updates on Matt Halischuk and Ryan Parent. This morning Josh has a story about one of the true mystery men of camp, Sergei Kostitsyn.

Jim Diamond discusses the process where some player will play in exhibitions and some won't.

Seth Lake has the post to end all posts on his "coach's view" of the last two scrimmages. He gives details on almost every player in camp in a way that has not been presented in this market previously.

Predlines writes about Taylor Beck wanting to be the next Shane Doan. He picked a great role model as Doan is one of my favorite NHLers.

David Boclair writes about the Preds turning to special teams today in preparation for tomorrow's first exhibition against Carolina.

Matthew Lombardi was on NHL Home Ice's Power Play at their first show back at Wayne Gretzky's restaurant yesterday. He is going to be a great asset to the Predators, both on and off the ice.

Dirk Hoag makes a point that the Predators may have a little extra money to spend and asks for opinions on how to do it. My vote is to sign Jose Theadore.

After hearing that a new radio deal would be announced yesterday (after it was leaked by Section 303 on Monday) an "official" Tweet came out indicating that the announcement would be today at 3:00. From @1029thebuzz: Huge announcement tomorrow (today) at 3pm!!! This is all very anti-climatic as they have "Home of the Predators" on their web site.

Nashville's own J.K Robbins (a.k.a. @seepuckcity) has a humorous preview of the Central division at Intent To Blow. Once again, being funny shows up as reality when he comments on Nashville's TV coverage of the Preds, "3 of Nashville’s 4 major TV network affiliates simultaneously forgot the team existed due to the Titans starting the NFL regular season."

Paul McCann has a variety of stories and news that fans will receive a T-shirt from Bridgestone on Opening Night on October 9. Paul also makes some compelling arguments in favor of the Predators new flagship radio station.

Add Hockey Night in Nashville to the list of blogs about the Predators. Here they look at five burning questions about the Predators.

The Milwaukee Admirals announced the schedule for their camp that opens on September 29. Admirals' Roundtable has a list of training camp invitees,

Around the NHL...

ESPN Boston reported that it is possible that Marc Savard could miss the whole season from post-concussion syndrome from the hit by Matt Cooke last March 7. PHT has the flip side with denials by the Bruins and Savard's agent.

Agent Jay Grossman appeared on Rink Side Radio this week with Joe Fortunto. It's good to see that Jay is getting out a little more after a rugged off-season.

Odds and Ends...

Major Twitter fail again with a flaw being exploited that caused folks to be redirected to other sites. Allegedly it is fixed.

Distracted driving is a major cause of accidents. Imagine that. Who would ever text or Tweet while driving?

Interesting that he visitor center at Chaco Canyon that was built in 1957 had to be razed but the ruins have held up for over 1000 years.
