City Counsel Vote On Coyote Lease in Glendale Tonight

After almost two years of turmoil in Phoenix with the ongoing Coyote ownership saga, it appears that tonight's Glendale City Counsel vote will give approval to the lease arrangement with Matthew Hulsizer. Here are the main points of the negotiated lease from the Arizona Republic.

POTG has been a supporter of fans and friends in Phoenix to hold on to their team since the first brutal attacks by common enemy Jim Ballsille in the spring of 2009 so it is particularly fulfilling to see the matter coming to a positive conclusion.

With only a couple of games around the NHL tonight, you may want to tune in to the online feed of the City Counsel Meeting after the Pittsburgh at Philadelphia game is over. Here is the link to the feed. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. MST and there are a few preliminary items on the agenda so the timing should be about right.

Congrats to all the Phoenix faithful and good luck to Matthew Hulsizer in trying to bring the same success to the Coyotes that the Nashville ownership group has to the Predators.

The only fly in the ointment at this point is breaking news from @brahmresnik: BREAKING #Coyotes: Goldwater Institute says lease 'appears to grant unconstitutional subsidy' that violates #AZ gift clause. Goldwater has thrown cold water on every move that has been made so this should not come as a surprise. Here is a copy of their letter to the City of Glendale.

Here is more news on the lease from Rebekah Sanders.
