POTG Thursday Thoughts, Headlines, and Links

We will have our Morning After feature shortly with a look back at last night's dismal showing by the Predators but you can visit our game recap with post game video by going here. The other top news in Nashville yesterday was David Poile being in the final three for GM of the Year. We will have the Lady Byng Trophy finalists today around 11 a,m, CDT.

After the jump we have other news from the world of the Predators and the NHL...

In Pred Nation...

Dirk Hoag has a good piece on why David Poile is deserving of the GM of the Year nomination.

Marc Torrence culled the news that Brent Peterson was stepping down from his position as Preds assistant from an article we had linked yesterday.

Mark Willoughby had an exclusive interview with Ducks GM Bob Murray with some interesting quotes.

John Manasso says Steve Sullivan is still dangerous at NHL.com.

Multiple viewing parties have been set for Friday night's game five in Anaheim.

The Milwaukee Admirals pulled even 2-2 in their series with the Texas Stars with a 3-2 win last night in Austin.

Around the NHL...

In addition to the Predators 6-3 loss to the Ducks, the other Western Conference series game, featured the Red Wings winning by the same 6-3 score to completer a 4-0 sweep of the Phoenix Coyotes in what could have been the last game played in Jobbing.com Arena.

The Eastern conference featured a pair of double overtime games with Washington beating New York 4-3 and Pittsburgh beating Tampa Bay 3-2. In the other game, Buffalo's Ryan Miller threw a 1-0 shut out at Philadelphia.

There is no definite answer as to whether Lou Lamoriello will return to the Devils next season.

Bill Daly was on the Power Play with Scott Laughlin on NHL Home Ice yesterday. Here is the audio.

Travis Hughes has more good perspective on the new NHL-NBC TV deal.

Peter Forsberg has been named the Assistant GM of his hometown Modo team in the Swedish Elite League. It's good to see him back in the game after his disappointing return in February.

James Mirtle has the latest from Gary Bettman on a potential Coyote move. He is adamant that it is not imminent. According to another Mirtle piece, Colin Campbell is past understanding the head shot rules.

Illegal Curve has their daily look at the Phoenix situation from the Winnipeg point of view.

SportsGirlKat has an interesting most of why bloggers are not evil as part of the ongoing dialogue of the MSM and blogger "debate."

I had to include this one only for the "You're So Money" title and picture.

Odds and Ends....

President Obama and his family will attend the Space Shuttle launch on April 29. I wish I could see it one more time.

More Later...
