The Morning After Round-Up: Kings 4, Preds 3

The Los Angeles Kings were picked to be one of the best teams in the Western Conference in the preseason and little has changed to make us think differently about their chances at this point.

Going in to last night's contest with the Predators, the Kings were on a five game losing streak (0-3-2) and their high powered offense had not scored more than two goals in that time. Drew Doughty and Dustin Penner had not scored a goal all season.

Pred-killer Jonathan Bernier (4-1-0, 1.80, .940) had won neither of his two prior starts this year. Pekka Rinne needed a night off on Tuesday against the Kings, or tonight against Anaheim.

Basically, you had the setting where the Predators hoped to sneak in to town and grab a win before the mighty Kings came out of their slumber. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.

Doughty scored his first goal of the year and Penner had his first two point game as a King. Bernier played well enough to win and Lindback showed the rust of not starting since the preseason.

The worst thing to come out of the evening may be an "upper body" injury to David Legwand that will keep him out of tonight's game in Anaheim, and maybe longer.

Our friend, the Mayor in LA, has the postgame locker room round-up of quotes from the Preds.
