Nashville's home ice woes continued last night with a frustrating 3-2 loss to Phoenix. Games between the Coyotes and Predators are always close with Barry Trotz and Dave Tippett playing a chess match type game that is not always an exciting brand of hockey but very effective in both teams taking away time and space from the other.
Goals generally come from mistakes and that was the case again last night. The Predators fought back twice but were finally sunk on a goal from Keith Yandle with 1:45 left in the contest during a pre-overtime look at the four on four after coincidental penalties to Adrian Aucoin and Sergei Kostitsyn from a skirmish behind the Coyotes net.
One thing that was fully agreed upon on Bloggers Row last night was that Aucoin should get the "pink panty" award for picking a fight with Kostitsyn, who has only one NHL regular season fight, which was on January 22, 2008 against Chuck Kobasew where he never threw a punch.
The Predators are not very good in overtime or on the four on four so Aucoin drawing Kostitsyn into a pushing match was all it took to set the stage for plenty of open ice and the Yotes winning goal.
The Predators head to Columbus tonight to face an improved Blue Jackets team on Thursday night before returning home for a four game home stand that starts Saturday against the Ducks where the team will hope to change their luck at Bridgestone Arena.
